WELCOME
Welcome to the Vocations website of the Jesuits in Britain.
The Society of Jesus was founded by St Ignatius Loyola 500 years ago. Members of this religious order, known as Jesuits, have been active in Britain for 400 of those years, and remain so to this day, serving the Church in many different ways.
We maintain this ability to serve the Church only because of the faith, generosity and commitment of the men who join us, the lay faithful who work with us, and the generous benefactors who support and sustain us.
With this website we'd like to offer a glimpse of what it is to be a Jesuit in Britain today, and we welcome particularly young men who may be considering a religious vocation. Your search will take you to many websites like this one, no doubt, and you are very welcome to use whatever resources you find in these pages to help you come to your own understanding of God's call, and your own decision on how to answer that call.
There are three dimensions to responding to any vocation in life, and religious life is no different. These are the dimensions of Knowing, Discerning & Deciding.
For our own particular context of Jesuit religious life those three headings are broken down through a number of sub-headings, as you'll see from the menu of the website, and all of these taken together give, we hope, a sense of the life and work of the Society of Jesus today.
Thank you for visiting.
