Jesuits in Britain

Ihs hex 012169

The natural place to introduce you to the Jesuits is to begin here at home, in the British Province. Most religious orders organise themselves in geographic regions known as 'Provinces', and the Jesuits follow this custom.

As well as Provinces we organise ourselves in larger geographic regions known as 'Assistances'. The British Province is part of the West Europe Assistancy, a large area, which includes the Jesuits and their works in Britain, Ireland, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Greece, Algeria, Egypt, the Holy Land, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Syria and even Mauritius!

In Britain you'll find Jesuit communities in Birmingham, Boscombe, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Newcastle, Oxford, Preston and St Asaph, North Wales.
