PRAYER
In the Christian tradition, God is not some diffuse force or power, but God has an engaged and engaging personality with a loving and instinctive care & concern for creation. Prayer occurs when a human being calls out to God or when the human heart is raised into the presence of God.
Prayer can take place alone or with others.
It can be structured or be spontaneous.
It can be stimulated by music, sacred writings or life’s experience.
It can be expressed out-loud, or in the quietness of the heart.
Through prayer the human soul can open to the presence of the living God. When practiced by an individual heart seeking to be generous, prayer will lead the human being into an intimate friendship with God; and this friendship can initiate a call (and prompt a response) from One to the Other.
